Project Objective

Through the implementation of this e-learning module, instructors will be able to better utilize instructional time while on the water because students will already have foundational river-rafting knowledge.  The online portion of the course can serve as a prerequisite to the hands-on portion enabling the class to expedite time in the classroom and move out to the river sooner.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify obstacles and hazards in a river environment.

  • Anticipate what angle their craft should be in relation to current, obstacles, and hazards.

  • Utilize appropriate forward momentum in relation to angle and downstream obstacles.

  • Identify river features such as eddies, waves and holes.

  • Position their boat appropriately to eddies, waves, holes.
